Odudua

| Animated Short Film

Based on a Yoruba myth, “Odudua” is a fascinating look at tradition, ambition and the impact of choices. It's also my new journey into the challenge of storytelling.

"Odudua" is my first animated short film, an idea in which I was involved in much of the creation and production process, from developing the script to the details of the animated scenes. But no one can go far alone. Over the course of almost two years, I was fortunate enough to bring together some talented people who elevated this story to the next level.

The short animated film is inspired by one of the hundreds of stories in the book "Mythology of the Orishas" by Reginaldo Prandi. The one-page tale about the goddess Odudua was transformed into a six-minute script, featuring supernatural characters experiencing human conflicts in settings where fantasy and reality intertwine.

The synopsis reads: "Living in a gourd and sharing space with a mystical being, the goddess Odudua follows the tradition of adorning herself with rings that connect her to the universe. But the harmony in the gourd is disrupted by an unexpected decision."
